It's finally done...I love this dress

It seem as if I've been working on this super easy dress, that I've sewn three times previously, forever. That could be because I had to deconstruct it a couple of times to get it to the point of loving it! The changes I made included removing the back drape, adding clear elastic to the back high waist seam, taking about 2 1/2" off of the hip measurement, omitting the cap sleeve and eliminating the ruching at the bust. I'm not happy that my bra shows at the underarm. Guess I'll have to keep my arms at my sides at all times!

I thought this necklace might work, but I was so wrong!

As far as the shoes go, I tried several pair and this was the best. I didn't see the need to go out and buy shoes to match a $4 dress! All the same, I love this dress.

What to do with pins and buttons

I cleaned out my jewelry armoire today and found this:

That's 21 pins and

Sixteen button covers

What am I supposed to do with them? I can see wearing some of the pins on a winter coat but then what? Are button covers going to come back in style?? Did the 80's call and what the stuff back??

The downside of losing weight

For the most part, losing weight is a good thing but nobody really talks about the downside. Since starting Weight Watchers at the first of June, I am down 18.4 lbs. Yippeee! My short-term goal is to lose 20 lbs by my birthday--August 16th. My doctor and Weight Watchers would like me to lose 30 more. We'll see. I really don't want to start looking like a crack addict or anything. So what is the downside of losing weight? Well, a picture is worth a thousand words:

Before
(These were my go-to slacks!)

After

Did I mention I hate to do alterations??? None of the slacks I made during my Goldilocks pants projects fits anymore. On the upside, everything I made last summer fits again. Only problem is I think I made more garment during the winter than I did during the summer. So right now I am having a sewing quandary. To sew or not to sew, that is the question.
