Sewing/Knitting

I got up at 4 a.m. and worked with the fitting shell that I draped after viewing Mimi Goodwin's YouTube video. It fits my duct tape dressform like a glove and much to my amazement, me as well. Now I'm trying to figure out how to translate my particular fitting issues to a commercial pattern.

I plan to work on a sweater later to be knit on the Brother 950i. Found a pattern in Knitwords magazine that I think just might work. As my web hoster's server is down I sent out copies of my pattern for the Passap Faux Fingerless gloves. Check out the picture.

Can't find a pattern

I've been looking through my books and magazines for a simple but more than just an ordinary pattern for a sweater. I've found some jade green mystery yarn in my stash that is just screaming to be knit. I knit the swatch on my Brother 950i. It's a slubbed yarn that looks best from the purl side. A simple pattern will showcase the yarn. I was hoping to find something that my gauge matched and just knit. Doesn't seem as if that is going to happen so I will have to chart it myself.

Today I also have to embroider four towels for my teammates on my bowling team as tonight is the last night of bowling until next year. Then I need to make a pair of pajama pants and fashion a sweater shirt into a matching top as a birthday gift and that also needs to be done by 6 p.m. Hopefully I can get the towels started and while they are stitching I can find the pattern for the pants get them cut out and started and have that stuff out of the way by noon. They I can knit for myself. Yikes! I also have to run to the market and get dinner started. I'd better get started but I have to get my 45 minute workout in first.

What I knit today...nothing!

I didn't knit a thing today. I didn't sew either because my knitting/sewing room was such a mess, it looked like somebode broke in and trashed it. I spent the last couple of hours sorting through fabric to be given away and came up with two boxes full. I promised a co-worker who is learning to sew I'd give her any fabric I didn't want. One piece which I'm still vacillating about giving her still had the receipt from 1988! It did eventually wind up in the give away pile. Haven't used it in 20 years....what's gonna change. Now I just need to sort through my yarn and decide what goes away and what stays.

I'm a machine knitting/sewing blogger

I'm a member of several groups on the net but in my opinion there is too much chatting and not enough doing! Hopefully with this blog I won't wind up blogging more than knitting/sewing.

I have a website www.smokingneedles.net so I guess the natural next step is to start blogging. I want a way to encourage people to use their knitting machines more but also keep them up-to-date on what I'm doing. At my site I offer free patterns, hint, tips etc. If you haven't already check it out. I'm also an avid sewer so of course my sewing exploits will also be included. Wish me luck!
