In case you're interested

Did you notice how well my maxis from the previous post fit in the bust? That was no accident. I didn't fit the pattern to my actual person, but rather to my duct tape dressform.

Made entirely by my husband and I, it is a wonderful tool that I use often. Never dispute the usefulness of these "homemade" wonders. Below is the altered maxi bodice.

I started by adding a horizontal bust dart and rotated it to the bodice waist. Extra length was added from the side seam to dart bottom. I omitted the dart and used gathers instead. You can also see the 3/4" I raised the underarm. Look mom, no excess underarm skin or flab showing!

The skirt was cut with the length-wise grain, the bodice was turned and cut on the cross grain. Because the fabric is 4-way stretch it was easy peasy.

The Goddess Maxi

I just couldn't help myself. I had to sew another maxi. I'm calling this the "Goddess" maxi because of the gold "foil" print in the fabric. Per Rhonda Buss I managed a few photos of me wearing this one and the last.

Another Maxi

How in the world did I ever miss sewing this pattern?

Photo

I decided I wanted a fast and easy project and this certainly fit the bill. I made a 1" FBA and rotated it to the bottom of the bodice as gathers. I also changed the pattern dart to gathering. It worked out perfectly! Other than an FBA I added two inches to the length and omitted the elastic at the waist. Not sure what purpose the elastic served but I made an executive decision to leave it off.

The fabric is from Fabric. com. It has 4-way stretch. I used it sideways to showcase the border print. I cut two front bodices trying to get a perfectly centered design, but failed miserably on both parts. Other sewers  may notice it but probably no one else. From start to finish it only took about two hours. This is a sure winner and I'm wondering why it took me so long to try it.
