Happy Birthday to me

That's right today is my birthday...double nickel minus 1. I share the celebration with Angela Bassett, Madonna, and Michelle from Cheap and Picky who by that way has been AWOL from blogland. 

I woke up this morning with a terrible migraine and didn't finish my birthday dress. The dress wasn't a problem because I had no plans because I husband is on 13 hour shifts. I have to work tomorrow and I'm just happy to be alive. My knee is hurting like hell after having my injection so I'll be spending the rest of the evening relaxing with an ice pack. I didn't ask for any gifts because there is nothing that I need or want. On second thought I guess I did a get a gift...my new car. I'd post a picture of it but my knee hurts too bad to brave the stairs, pull the car out the garage and snap a picture. I did get a fantastic surprise today. While at the doctor's office I pulled my electronic tablet out of my purse. Not paying attention to what I was doing I pulled it out upside down and it fell out of the case and went crashing to the floor. Luckily the floor was carpeted. Anyway stuck in the case behind the tablet I found a $125 money order that I was sure I'd thrown out in last week's trash! Yippeee! I love finding the money. ( In my mind I'm jumping around doing the happy dance!)

Happy Birthday to me -- My birthday dress

In case you missed it...today is my 53rd birthday! I love birthdays...mine especially. I am shamelessly accepting gifts of fabric, notions and any unwanted BWOF (as if that's even possible)! And without further ado, here's my birthday dress McCall's 6069.

This dress went together incredibly fast. I guess that's why there are so many reviews of it on PR.

I used the front bodice for View C as my back. I should have given that a little more thought and redrafted it because I have a wide back and needless to say, it's feeling a little weird. Thank goodness the fabric is a knit. As long as you can't see my "back fat" I can live with it. All in all I like it and have something else to wear with my now favorite belt. FYI I added 2" to the length of the skirt and was still only able to turn up a 1/2" hem. I also added 1" to the bodice front and back.

Happy Birthday to me!

Yep. That's right. Today is my 52nd birthday! I'm am just thrilled to death. Although I've been a little under the weather for about two weeks...got a nasty sinus infection that required a doctor's visit last week but I'm still here. Started the morning off putting the finishing touches on McCall's 5522 and cut out a skirt to sew tomorrow. No more putting off starting my wedding dress. Just two weeks until the big day. The only bummer is that as I was looking over the pattern last night it calls for stretch satin! Yikes! I didn't know that. While the fabric I'm using is by no means stretch I'm not opposed to just picking another pattern...I'm flexible like that and it's getting down to the wire. Now have to get ready for church.
