Has it been two weeks?

I can't believe it has been two weeks since I last posted. The LBD contest is over and although I didn't win I did get a great dress out of it. I'm still losing weight but the my duct tape dressform hasn't lost an ounce. The LBD wouldn't fit no matter how much I tried to stretch it onto her so dressform surgery was in order.

She had already suffered an amputation as a result of a sewing room accident but this surgery required much more finesse.

Instead of just whacking off her arm, I had to remove the tape that was holding her together down the center back. Then removed some of her padding.

With the husband's help we overlapped her center back more and taped her back together. The surgery only took about 20 minutes and was for the most part successful.

There was some minor complaining about the non-matching duct tape but then again the cover will rectify that.

The cover also had to be taken in. Hot water laundering it didn't work!

Here she is styling my LBD. Her boobs are bigger than mine but only so much surgery can be done in one day! After another 10 lbs. I hope to talk the husband into making a new dressform from scratch!

So long friend

I didn't even know I was in the market for a new sewing machine. My plan was to take this one to the grave with me. I paid close to $4000 for it back in 2001 and quite frankly I was more than happy with it until yesterday. While trying to do some embroidery for a paying customer, I found out that part of the embroidery function is inoperative as it either uses a hard embroidery card or a 3 1/2" floppy. Can you say "extinct".

After I called the local service center and was told that it could be repaired "if" some repair parts could be located. I quickly changed gears and at hubby's suggestion, traded up to this one.

It has the built-in Disney designs that will be too cute for things for the granddaughter. It also has a USB port for use of a memory stick and can be hooked directly to the computer. Yippee!

So am I using my new acquistion...no. This was my sewing closet this morning

This is what it looks like now

Nearly everything had to be cleared out to make room for some plumbing repairs! This is a good time for me to peruse the manual and to devise a plan of action for future sewing projects.

Cardi-wrap

I've been planning to sew Simplicity 2603 since last year around this time. I'm only a year late. I really wanted my fabric to marinate before I used it! The fabric is some kind of knit of unknown origin from Walmart and probably only cost $1 a yard.

I don't think there is anything I could say about it that hasn't already been said. There are 73 reviews of the pattern on Pattern Review. It's easy and can be styled many ways.

Here's Lynn from You Sew Girl styling in it at the sewing expo. I think we both look great!
