Friday musings

I left off a very important jeans tip. Hem your jeans at least 1-2" longer than you actually want them. Mine were perfect with the heels I wanted to wear them with but now after a couple of washings, two pair can only be worn with flats (I hate flats) and one pair is just too short altogether. It's hard to believe that I pre-washed my fabric twice!

I've been making knit dresses. With the leftover scraps I'm experimenting making panties. I cut the sides on the Warner brand that is my favorite and made my own pattern. More details on that later.

Last but not least I always seem to be able to sniff out a deal. I got this on clearance at JoAnns for $80. Did I do good or what?

  2. That's a great tip for the jeans. I'm getting ready to make a pair. I also heard that you should wash the fabric at least 2xs before making the jeans and then before putting the hem in after you make the jeans you should wash them again and then hem them.

I'm am so hating on you about that awesome thread purchase. I love Gutermann thread. I buy the small containers of them from Joanns.

  3. Great tip for jeans making and I am very envious of your thread find - what a fantastic bargain! Thanks so much for sharing your excellent packing strategy in your comment on my blog. Travelling around on your motorcycle (wearing your fabulous jeans) must be amazing - what wonderful freedom!

  4. Great buy on the thread. Why in the you-know-what does it cost so much anyway?

  6. Awesome deal and awesome tip!! I just hemmed my jeans and left them about an inch too long (although I can still wear them with my higher heels).
I got your comment on my blog about the singer throat plate. That would be awesome if you have one that is the right size/shape! The one I need looks like this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330410437221&rvr_id=&crlp=1_263602_263622&UA=WVS%3F&GUID=03328dc81210a0b583a532e5fffc8357&itemid=330410437221&ff4=263602_263622) one from Ebay. If you don't have this one, no biggie. They aren't too expensive, thank goodness. I really appreciate the offer either way!

  7. Great deal on the gutterman threads. I luv using that thread and have purchased several of their smaller thread kits which are perfect when you need that odd color.
