McCall's 5471 - The RV blouse

The majority of this blouse was sewn over the Labor Day weekend in our RV. I cut the pattern and fused the interfacing before leaving home. I didn't want to overload the RV with my sewing stuff so opted to do french seams on all seams except the armhole and the sleeve ruffle. The inside construction looks so good I could wear it inside out!

Pattern Description:
Misses'/Miss Petite Shirts: Semi-fitted shirt has princess seams, mock front band, collar, collar band and shaped hem with different front pieces for different bra cup sizes.
Pattern Sizing:
6-20
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes it did
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Instructions were very easy to follow. I really wanted to make a different view but didn't have enough fabric. This is my wearable muslin
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I liked that the pattern included pattern pieces for different bra cut sizes up to D. I wear a 36DD and the D cup pattern piece fit me just fine. I especially love the collar and stand. The instructions for them were divine and went together without a hitch.

Fabric Used:
Fabric of unknown origin from Walmart
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made:
I made my usual wide back adjustment. I also shortened the shoulder seam about an inch. I used my rolled hem foot to make a narrow hem on the sleeve edge. I only used seven buttons although the pattern called for eight.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes I will sew this again and highly recommend it to others.

Conclusion:
Unfortunately this pattern is no longer available in stores in my area and probably not in yours either.

  2. Great look. Love the color. I made that shirt too, but I still really need to do some practicing on collar stands.
